I had committed to only writing good reviews but in fairness to fellow diners I felt compelled to share this one as we were sooo disappointed… Beautiful views and sunset. Have been before and food was good. We understand things happen. It’s the way it’s dealt that counts On this night the fish was not fresh, they had to remake ours but served one person in our party. he left most of it ( they didn’t inquire why or seem to care ) he then ordered pasta (nothing special) We eventually got our fish, asked for it to be filleted, it came back in bits , also somewhat cold, served with a blob of polenta. When we provided the feedback the response was defensive .. sad
We went twice and got the fresh fish both times. We loved how they showed it before and after cooking it. It tasted really nice. Only thing, I would have loved to have the cheek as well, as it is the nicest part ;)
Wine was also very tasty and went well with our dish.
We will come back for sure.
Great location, comfortable rooms, aircondition, great breakfast, marvellous half board dinner options and a beautiful terrace which seats right on the promenade made our stay worth while.
Only flaw: having booked half board, one has to stay indoors for dinner. All tables on the terrace are reserved for drop-in customers.
For breakfast however, you are free to choose whichever seat you want, in- or outdoors.
Quite expensive but the location is worth it! Right in the centre, 1 min. away from the pedestrian area, supermarket and the city centre, 5 min. from Grado port, 2 min. from the beach, all in walking distance!
I recommend the Hotel Marea *** to everyone who wants to treat themselves once a year with an exceptional holiday in Grado. xxx
Wonderful view over the sea, with the sun glinting on the water. Food disappointing and overpriced. Service friendly. Go for a coffee or aperitif. Five or six steps up to the restaurant from the promenade - maybe there is an accessible entrance through the hotel from the other side.

Best views for the perfect romantic dinner at sunset... I went with my wife three evenings in a row... that’s how good they are! Excellent dishes served with care by knowledgeable and very friendly staff.
